A federal grand jury in Springfield, Missouri, has indicted Tyler Kittrell, a 38-year-old resident of Sullivan, Missouri, for possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl with intent to distribute. The indictment, which replaces an earlier criminal complaint from February 24, 2025, consists of two counts against Kittrell.

The affidavit accompanying the original complaint detailed an incident on February 14, 2025, when Kittrell was stopped by Joplin, Missouri, police on Interstate 44. Upon searching his vehicle, officers discovered $13,120 in cash and several packages containing 16.8 pounds of methamphetamine and 4.7 pounds of fentanyl, equating to approximately 7,658 grams of methamphetamine and 2,142 grams of fentanyl.

Prosecutors emphasize that charges in the indictment are not evidence of guilt, and evidence must be presented to a federal trial jury to determine Kittrell's guilt or innocence.

Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Hannah R. Lucas is prosecuting the case, which has been investigated by the Joplin Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
