Governor Mike Kehoe has signed Executive Order 25-19, declaring a State of Emergency in Missouri due to severe weather forecasts. The order activates the Missouri State Emergency Operations Plan, facilitating state agencies' coordination with local jurisdictions for assistance.

"The National Weather Service has warned that this fast-approaching storm is likely to bring severe weather across the state, including high winds and an increased risk of tornadoes," stated Governor Kehoe. He urged residents to stay vigilant and adhere to official warnings.

The emergency operations center will be operational from 1 p.m. today to aid coordination efforts. Severe storms are predicted to enter western Missouri around 3 p.m., intensifying as they progress eastward into the night. Concerns include damaging winds, strong tornadoes (EF2+), and large hail.

Residents are advised to delay outdoor activities and travel during the storm period. They should follow local forecasts and have multiple alert systems ready, especially overnight or in case one fails.

It is crucial for Missourians to identify safe shelters beforehand due to the storms' rapid movement. The safest location during a tornado is an interior room without windows on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, ideally a basement. Mobile homes are not safe; alternative shelter arrangements should be made well before storms arrive.

Executive Order 25-19 will remain effective until April 14, 2025.
