A Kansas City man was sentenced in federal court for illegal possession of ammunition and assaulting a federal officer. Charles D. Jackson, also known as "Grove Street" and "C Jackem," received a sentence of five years and ten months in federal prison without parole from U.S. Chief District Judge Beth Phillips.

Jackson had pleaded guilty on June 13, 2024, to being a felon in possession of ammunition and assaulting a federal law enforcement officer. The charges stemmed from an incident on August 24, 2023, when agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) executed a search warrant at his residence. This was part of an operation targeting individuals associated with three street gangs: the Click Clack Gang, the Park Side Greasies, and the South Benton Gang.

During the execution of the warrant, Jackson attempted to flee by ramming his vehicle into an ATF agent's Jeep. The agents were clearly identified as law enforcement officers through their body armor marked "ATF Police." Despite Jackson's attempts to escape by repeatedly driving forward and backward, he was eventually immobilized when an ATF agent used her Jeep to push his car into the garage.

Inside Jackson's vehicle, agents found a loaded AR-style pistol with no serial number and an extended magazine containing 39 rounds of ammunition. Under federal law, it is illegal for anyone with a felony conviction to possess firearms or ammunition. Jackson has a previous felony conviction for first-degree robbery.

Assistant U.S. Attorney John C. Constance prosecuted this case following an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations threatening the United States through a multi-agency approach.
