U.S. Attorney Teresa Moore announced that the Western District of Missouri has collected over $9.7 million in criminal and civil actions for Fiscal Year 2024. The district secured $8,750,662 from criminal actions and $962,920 from civil actions.

In collaboration with other U.S. Attorney’s Offices and components of the Department of Justice, an additional $7,639,046 was collected in joint cases. This included $41,074 from criminal actions and $7,597,971 from civil actions.

Moore stated, “The attorneys and support staff in our Monetary Penalties Unit are committed to ensuring that crime doesn’t pay.” She noted that collections from criminal actions nearly doubled compared to the previous year. “Victims of crime deserve their court-ordered restitution,” Moore added.

The U.S. Attorneys’ Offices are tasked with enforcing and collecting debts owed to the U.S., as well as restitution for federal crime victims who have suffered injury or loss. Restitution is directed to victims while fines contribute to the Crime Victims Fund for victim compensation programs.

Furthermore, the Western District of Missouri's office collected $6,914,466 through asset forfeiture actions in FY 2024. These funds support crime victim restoration and various law enforcement activities.
