Today, Governor Mike Kehoe announced the appointment of Sarah Willson as the new Director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). Willson is set to begin her role on February 14, 2025, pending confirmation from the Missouri Senate.

Governor Kehoe expressed confidence in Willson's capabilities, stating, “I am proud to have Sarah join my Cabinet as a key leader in our efforts to improve the health of Missourians across the state.” He emphasized her background in healthcare and anticipated collaboration on enhancing public health systems.

Willson brings extensive experience from her tenure as Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs for the Missouri Hospital Association (MHA), where she provided guidance to over 140 hospitals. Her expertise spans licensing, compliance for various healthcare facilities, and legislative collaboration at state and federal levels.

Expressing her gratitude, Willson said, “I am truly humbled at the opportunity to serve the people of Missouri in the Kehoe Administration.” She highlighted her dual perspective as both a nurse and small business owner and looks forward to engaging with stakeholders to advance public health initiatives.

Before joining MHA, Willson held leadership positions at Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care and Capital Region Medical Center. Her focus has been on improving patient care quality and operational efficiency.

Willson holds an MBA in health management from William Woods University and a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
