Governor-Elect Mike Kehoe has announced the appointment of Brigadier General Charles D. Hausman as the next Adjutant General of the Missouri National Guard. This change in leadership will occur on February 1, 2025, following Major General Levon E. Cumpton's selection for a position with U.S. Army Europe and Africa.
Kehoe praised Hausman's career, stating, "General Hausman’s distinguished career is underscored by his strong character, remarkable leadership, and solid dedication to our great state and nation." He emphasized that Hausman's record would be crucial in ensuring the Missouri National Guard is well-prepared for its state and federal responsibilities.
Brigadier General Hausman brings over 36 years of service in the Missouri National Guard to his new role. He expressed gratitude for the appointment, saying, “I am humbled and honored by Governor-Elect Kehoe’s confidence in me, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to lead the Soldiers and Airmen of the Missouri National Guard."
Throughout his career, Hausman has held various command positions from company to brigade level and served in key staff roles. His experience includes assignments abroad in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. He has been recognized with several military awards such as the Distinguished Service Medal and Legion of Merit.
Hausman holds degrees from the University of Central Missouri and completed further studies at the United States Naval War College. Originally from Saint Joseph, Missouri, he now resides in Jefferson City with his family.
