Governor Mike Parson has opened applications for the position of St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney. This follows the election of current Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell to Congress, with his swearing-in set for January 3, 2025. Governor Parson aims to fill the vacancy by this date.

Applications are available at boards.mo.gov and will close on November 22 at 5 p.m. "We truly want the best person for the job who can improve law and order in St. Louis County," said Governor Parson. He emphasized that the new prosecutor will have a significant role in enhancing public safety in Missouri's largest metropolitan area.

The Governor is seeking candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the rule of law, strong managerial experience, a fair application of state and local laws, and membership within the St. Louis metropolitan community.

Governor Parson has been in discussions with community leaders about how to address the needs of the Prosecutor's Office effectively. His office has communicated his appointment plans to St. Louis County Executive Sam Page's Office multiple times. Additionally, Attorney General Andrew Bailey has sent a letter outlining Governor Parson's legal authority for this appointment.
