A Stanberry, Missouri man, Erin L. Graves, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for illegally possessing an unregistered sawed-off shotgun. The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Missouri, alleges that Graves was in possession of a Remington 20-gauge shotgun with a barrel of less than 18 inches in length on January 15, 2024.

According to the official statement, the charges in the indictment are considered accusations and not evidence of guilt. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Jennings is set to prosecute the case, which was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Gentry County Sheriff’s Office, and the Northwest Missouri Drug Task Force.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by bringing together law enforcement at all levels and the communities they serve. The initiative focuses on fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting violence prevention programs, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.

Erin L. Graves faces charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing an unregistered firearm. It is important to note that Graves has a history of prior felony convictions for various offenses including stealing, driving violations, tampering with a motor vehicle, burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest.
