Vincent Gepson, a 64-year-old man from Joplin, Missouri, has been sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison without parole for bank robbery. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. Chief District Judge Beth Phillips.

Gepson pleaded guilty to the bank robbery that took place on May 9, 2022, at Great Southern Bank on S. Rangeline Road in Joplin. According to reports, he approached the teller counter, claimed to have a gun, and demanded cash. The teller complied, handing over $1,000 in a plastic bag before Gepson made his escape.

Following the robbery, the Joplin Police Department circulated surveillance photos of the suspect on social media, leading to Gepson's identification by several members of the public. He was subsequently apprehended by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Department in Louisiana on May 20, 2022.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Kelleher and investigated by the Joplin Police Department and the FBI.
