The Kansas City Chiefs and ESPN Mexico have entered into a multi-year media rights agreement for the Mexican market. The deal gives ESPN Mexico exclusive rights to broadcast three Chiefs pre-season games as well as two original documentary series: "The Franchise," which will run for 10–12 episodes, and "Viva Chiefs Kingdom," a two-part docuseries.
SPORTFIVE, the global sports agency that represents the Kansas City Chiefs in Mexico, facilitated and negotiated the agreement on behalf of the team. This partnership builds on SPORTFIVE’s ongoing cooperation with the Chiefs, which has previously expanded into the DACH region and was recently extended until 2028.
Kellen Begnoche, Vice President of Partnership Strategy at the Kansas City Chiefs, said: "We have been committed to the Mexico market for a number of years and are excited to begin this multi-year relationship with ESPN Mexico so that Chiefs fans – and all NFL fans – can have access to our unique, original content in this important and growing market. We also want to thank the SPORTFIVE team for their partnership and help in getting this agreement across the finish line."
SPORTFIVE highlighted its strategic focus on Latin America through this agreement. The company views Mexico as an important growth area within its LATAM operations, with ESPN considered one of its key partners in the region.
Christian Koller, Senior Vice President Global Sales at SPORTFIVE, stated: "This agreement is a great example of how our global collaboration with the Kansas City Chiefs continues to expand into new markets. Building on our strong alliance in DACH, we are proud to now also support the Chiefs in Mexico, one of the most exciting growth markets for the NFL internationally."
Pedro Cubillos, Executive Director Global Media at SPORTFIVE added: "Mexico is a strategic priority for our LATAM business, and partnering with ESPN to bring premium Chiefs content to fans in the region reflects our constant and active presence in the market. We are delighted to further strengthen our cooperation with both the Kansas City Chiefs and ESPN through this agreement."
According to SPORTFIVE, this latest arrangement marks another step toward connecting leading sports organizations with media platforms and audiences worldwide.
