Clinton High School Head Coach Jake Vencill and Leavenworth High School Head Coach Sean Sachen have been named the Kansas City Chiefs’ High School Coaches of the Week for the seventh week of the 2025 season. The announcement was made on October 15, 2025.

The Chiefs recognize area high school coaches each week for both their achievements on the field and their leadership off the field. As part of the award, Vencill and Sachen will each receive a $500 grant from the Hunt Family Foundation, a Chiefs bucket hat, a certificate of recognition, and a custom game ball. They also become eligible for the Eric Driskell Coach of the Year Award, which is decided by a panel from the Missouri and Kansas Boards of the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association at the end of the regular season.

The Clinton Cardinals, under Vencill’s leadership, achieved their best start since 2007 by defeating the Harrisonville Wildcats 20-13 on October 10. The team limited Harrisonville to 274 yards of total offense and secured one interception, while their own offense gained 238 rushing yards on 38 carries. Clinton aims to finish their home games undefeated as they face the Warrensburg Tigers on October 17.

"I'm truly honored to be named Chiefs Coach of the Week," Vencill said. "This recognition is a reflection of the incredible dedication of our coaching staff, the hard work of our players, and the support of our school and community. I couldn't be prouder of this team and the effort they've put into working toward our goals and earning the success we're seeing this season."

Vencill is in his first year with Clinton but brings 17 years of coaching experience. He previously served as head coach at Windsor High School in Imperial, Missouri, where he led the team to a 2020 Class 1 State Championship, three district titles, and three state quarterfinals appearances. He was named KMZU Class 1 Coach of the Year in 2020.

Leavenworth High School, coached by Sachen since 2019, defeated the De Soto Wildcats 27-14 on October 10, marking their first win over De Soto and their best six-game start since 1973. The Pioneers are now 5-1 and will travel to West High School on October 17 with hopes of finishing their road schedule undefeated.

"I think that receiving this award speaks to the dedication, hard work, and talent of our group of kids," Sachen said. "We are so humbled and proud to be honored with this award as it recognizes our program, coaching staff, school, and the Leavenworth community."

Sachen led Leavenworth to a 6-4 record last season, reaching the second round of the playoffs, and previously coached the Immaculata Raiders in Leavenworth for nine seasons.

The High School Coach of the Week program, now in its 29th year, is a joint effort between the Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League. The program not only recognizes coaches for team performance but also for their positive impact on student-athletes beyond football.

The Chiefs work with PrepsKC to select weekly honorees from Missouri and Kansas. PrepsKC has served as Kansas City’s primary multimedia outlet for high school football coverage for 16 years, offering news, scores, schedules, and more at www.prepskc.com.
