The Kansas City Chiefs and ESPN Mexico have entered into a multi-year media rights agreement that will bring exclusive Chiefs content to audiences in Mexico. The contract grants ESPN Mexico the rights to broadcast three Chiefs pre-season games and two original documentary series, "The Franchise" (10–12 episodes) and "Viva Chiefs" (a two-part docuseries), over the next three years.
The global sports marketing agency SPORTFIVE facilitated and negotiated the deal on behalf of the Kansas City Chiefs, who are four-time Super Bowl champions. SPORTFIVE represents the team in Mexico as well as other regions outside the United States.
"We have been committed to the Mexico market for a number of years and are excited to begin this multi-year relationship with ESPN Mexico so that Chiefs fans – and all NFL fans – can have access to our unique, original content in this important and growing market," said Kellen Begnoche, Vice President of Partnership Strategy for the Kansas City Chiefs. "We also want to thank the SPORTFIVE team for their partnership and help in getting this agreement across the finish line."
For SPORTFIVE, this agreement extends its cooperation with the Kansas City Chiefs, following previous expansion into the DACH region—Germany, Austria, and Switzerland—over the past three years. That collaboration was recently extended until 2028.
"This agreement is a great example of how our global collaboration with the Kansas City Chiefs continues to expand into new markets," said Christian Koller, Senior Vice President Global Sales at SPORTFIVE. "Building on our strong alliance in DACH, we are proud to now also support the Chiefs in Mexico, one of the most exciting growth markets for the NFL internationally."
Pedro Cubillos, Executive Director Global Media at SPORTFIVE added: "Mexico is a strategic priority for our LATAM business, and partnering with ESPN to bring premium Chiefs content to fans in the region reflects our constant and active presence in the market. We are delighted to further strengthen our cooperation with both the Kansas City Chiefs and ESPN through this agreement."
SPORTFIVE noted that this deal reinforces its focus on Latin America as a key area for growth within its operations.
This latest development marks another milestone for SPORTFIVE's efforts to connect sports organizations with media platforms and fans globally.
