Sporting Kansas City II will play Ventura County FC on Sunday at Children's Mercy Victory Field in their final home match of the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro regular season. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CT and will be available for streaming through MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

This meeting marks the first time these teams face each other in 2025, following two encounters last year where Ventura County won the first match and Sporting KC II managed a draw in the second. After this home finale, SKC II will conclude its regular season with an away match against MNUFC 2 on September 28.

Currently, Sporting KC II is unbeaten in its last three matches, including a win over Real Monarchs and draws against North Texas SC and Vancouver Whitecaps 2. Each of these results was secured by goals scored after the 85th minute.

In their latest draw, midfielder Carter Derksen from the Sporting KC Academy scored his second goal of the season to level the match. Georgetown graduate Blaine Mabie also recorded his second professional goal during that game. Derksen has played in 21 matches this season with a total of 830 minutes on the field. Rookie midfielder Shane Donovan has started in most games this year, making significant contributions with nearly 2,000 minutes played and two assists.

Maouloune Goumballe and Johann Ortiz lead SKC II in assists with three each. Goumballe also has four goals to his name and remains the only player to have started every match for SKC II this season. Medgy Alexandre leads team scoring with eight goals from his 18 starts.

Goalkeepers Jacob Molinaro and Jack Kortkamp have shared responsibilities throughout the season. Molinaro has accumulated six results from his twelve starts along with 43 saves, while Kortkamp leads in saves with 45 across three results.

The club recently signed Zamir Loyo Reynaga, a fourteen-year-old midfielder from SKC Academy, to an amateur contract ahead of Sunday's fixture. Loyo Reynaga has been active with both U-18 competition and participated recently in a U-15 Boys National Team Camp held in Georgia.

Ventura County FC enters Sunday's contest closely involved in a playoff race as they try to maintain their position above Austin FC II based on wins but trail MNUFC 2 due to goal differential. Their top scorers are Jeorgio Kocevski and Luis Muller who have seven goals each this season.

After hosting Ventura County FC, Sporting KC II will end its regular season campaign by traveling to play MNUFC 2 at National Sports Center Stadium in Blaine, Minnesota on September 28 at the same time as other Western Conference fixtures.
