Sporting Kansas City will play against LA Galaxy this Saturday, September 27, at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The match is scheduled to begin at 9:30 PM CT and will be available on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV. Both Sporting Kansas City and LA Galaxy have been eliminated from playoff contention after losing their most recent matches. Despite this, both teams are considered important clubs in Major League Soccer and share a long-standing rivalry.

Dejan Joveljić, now a key forward for Sporting KC, previously played an important role for LA Galaxy during their 2024 MLS Cup victory. This season, Joveljić has scored 17 goals and remains in the race for the Golden Boot award.

LA Galaxy recently signed central defender Chris Rindov, who previously played for both Sporting KC and Sporting KC II. Rindov's strong performance during the Leagues Cup 2025 led to his contract with LA Galaxy.

In their last meeting, Sporting KC won 1-0 at Children's Mercy Park. The match was notable because Sporting secured victory without taking a shot on target; an own goal combined with high pressing from Sporting’s attack delivered three points for Kansas City.
