Sporting Kansas City II is set to host Real Monarchs on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT in their only meeting of the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season. Tickets for the match are available through SeatGeek.com, and fans can stream the game live on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.
Interim head coach Ike Opara will lead Sporting KC II after a narrow loss to Colorado Rapids 2 last Sunday. With five matches remaining in the regular season, three of which will be played at home, Opara and his team aim to finish the year strongly.
In their most recent match, Sporting KC II lost 3-2 to Colorado Rapids 2. Maouloune Goumballe scored his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Anthony Samways on his first professional assist. Goumballe currently leads the team with seven goal contributions and has three assists this year.
Rookie Anthony Samways has started 14 out of his 20 appearances and has played a total of 1,406 minutes so far this season. Team captain Cielo Tschantret, who also scored against Colorado, has made 22 starts and netted three goals overall. His latest goal came from a corner delivered by Johann Ortiz, marking Ortiz's second assist of the campaign.
Medgy Alexandre is Sporting KC II’s top scorer with eight goals from 16 starts and 20 appearances, totaling 1,379 minutes played. Goalkeeper Jacob Molinaro will not be available for selection as he joins the USYNT U-19 squad in Fayetteville, Georgia for his first Domestic Identity Training Camp.
Real Monarchs arrive under head coach Mark Lowry with their team currently sitting fourth in the Western Conference standings. In August, they recorded five results in six matches while scoring twelve goals and conceding four. Jesus Barea leads Real Monarchs with seven goals and two assists; midfielder Aiden Hezarkhani has contributed six goals and three assists.
After Saturday’s match against Real Monarchs, Sporting KC II will face North Texas SC at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m. CT.
