Sporting Kansas City will host Austin FC at Children’s Mercy Park on Sunday, September 7, marking their second consecutive home match following a 4-2 win over the Colorado Rapids. The event will also serve as the Kick Childhood Cancer night, recognizing young cancer patients who have been honored guests at each home game this season. The match is scheduled to start earlier than usual, with kickoff set for 6 PM CT. Tickets remain available for those wishing to attend in person, while fans unable to be present can watch via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

Austin FC arrives after a 3-1 victory against the San Jose Earthquakes on August 30 at Q2 Stadium. Goals came from Bukari and Uzuni, along with an own goal by San Jose that secured the result. The opening goal was scored in the 12th minute, demonstrating effective teamwork between Bukari and Owen Wolff. Austin capitalized on errors from San Jose and responded quickly during transitions. Both Wolff and Bukari were named to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for their performances.

Earlier this season, Wolff and Bukari combined for the decisive goal when these teams first met in February.

Sporting Kansas City returns home after overcoming a first-half deficit to defeat Colorado Rapids last week. Dejan Joveljić scored twice with headers from corner kicks, while Daniel Salloi and Mason Toye also found the net as Sporting took control of the match and secured three points at home. Santiago Muñoz has contributed significantly in midfield, creating opportunities and scoring three goals so far this season.

Both teams are seeking playoff qualification as they prepare for Sunday’s match. Updates and news are available at Es.SportingKC.com.
