Sporting Kansas City forwards Dejan Joveljic and Daniel Salloi have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for Matchday 31. The recognition follows Sporting KC's 4-2 win over Colorado.
Daniel Salloi, who wore the captain's armband in his 250th MLS appearance, scored a crucial equalizer in the 73rd minute. His goal, which has been nominated for MLS Goal of the Matchday, helped initiate a second-half comeback. With this goal, Salloi now shares second place on Sporting KC’s all-time scoring list with Dom Dwyer and Johnny Russell.
Dejan Joveljic contributed two goals in Saturday’s match. He opened the scoring in the fourth minute with his 100th professional club goal and later sealed the victory in the 81st minute. This performance marked his third multi-goal game of the season. Joveljic’s tally of 16 goals ranks third both in Major League Soccer this year and for a single season in Sporting KC history.
"I think when we brought him into the club, we had an idea from the outside what he was capable of," Sporting KC interim head coach Kerry Zavagnin said postgame. "What we expected is what he's delivering. Goal scorers like Dejan, they don't need clear-cut chances and that's what makes them special. I think he's been a consistent player in front of goal for us over the course of the year."
