With the upcoming fall exhibitions, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art will feature two Indigenous artists in its 2025-2026 season. The museum's first named exhibition, "Shimmer on Horizons," opens August 29 and runs through February 15. This show highlights mixed-media artist Andrea Carlson, who will explore themes related to land and memory.
Following this, from November 19 to April 19, sculptor Raven Halfmoon will present her work at the Kemper Museum. The title for Halfmoon's exhibition has not yet been announced. Both exhibitions continue the museum's focus on contemporary art and diverse perspectives.
Evan Pagano of IN Kansas City noted, "With its fall exhibitions, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is spotlighting two Indigenous artists with unmistakable styles. In the first named exhibition of the season, Shimmer on Horizons (Aug. 29-Feb.15), mixed-media artist Andrea Carlson will reflect on land and the memories it carries. From Nov. 19 to April 19, Raven Halfmoon will bring her grand style of sculpture to the Kemper in an exhibition yet to be named."
The installation view for Andrea Carlson's previous exhibition at MCA Chicago provides context for her upcoming show at Kemper.
