Jefferson City — Governor Mike Kehoe has announced that the Missouri State Capitol dome and the Missouri Law Enforcement Memorial will be illuminated in blue from sunset on Friday, May 2, 2025, to sunrise on Sunday, May 4, 2025. This action is in remembrance of Missouri's law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

"The Missouri Capitol dome will shine blue this weekend as we honor and remember the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice," stated Governor Kehoe. He emphasized the bravery required for law enforcement officers to face daily dangers and highlighted the duty to remember those who have fallen.

The annual ceremonies for fallen officers will be held at the Missouri Law Enforcement Memorial, located on the north side of the State Capitol. A candlelight vigil will take place on Friday, May 2, followed by the Memorial Service on Saturday, May 3.

This year, four officers who died in the line of duty in 2024, along with two historical figures whose line of duty deaths were recently confirmed, have been added to the memorial’s Wall of Honor. This update brings the total to 752 fallen officers.

The officers commemorated this year include Cody R. Allen, who died on February 29, 2024, Stephen A. Singer, who passed away on April 8, 2024, Phylicia Carson, who died on August 31, 2024, and David Lee III, who was killed on September 22, 2024. Additionally, the circumstances surrounding the historical deaths of Noah Bowles in 1904 and George D. Hooper in 1918 have been recognized.

The events will involve family members of the deceased and law enforcement representatives from across Missouri. The candlelight vigil is scheduled for Friday at 8:00 p.m., while the memorial service will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Both ceremonies will be held at the Law Enforcement Memorial at the Missouri State Capitol, located on North Capitol Drive.

Governor Mike Kehoe and Attorney General Bailey will deliver remarks at Saturday’s memorial service. Photos of the Capitol dome illuminated in blue will be accessible on Governor Kehoe's Flickr page.
