A Kansas City man, Bryan Keith Rice, aged 50, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to child pornography. The indictment includes five counts: three for transporting child pornography across state lines, one for receiving child pornography, and one for possessing child pornography.

Rice is required to register as a sex offender due to a previous felony conviction for possessing child pornography. The indictment was returned by the federal grand jury in Kansas City on January 8.

It is important to note that the charges are accusations and not evidence of guilt. The evidence supporting these charges will be presented to a federal trial jury responsible for determining guilt or innocence.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Alison D. Dunning is prosecuting the case. It was investigated by Homeland Security Investigation along with local law enforcement agencies including the Platte County Sheriff's Department, Kansas City Police Department, and Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates resources from various levels of government to prosecute offenders and rescue victims.
