The Kansas City Museum has announced the receipt of a grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. This funding will support strategic planning and collaboration development focused on workforce and career opportunities.

The museum's goal is to provide youth and young adults with paid internships and employment opportunities, guiding them towards careers in museums and the humanities. The initiative aims to offer these young leaders access to various civic, creative, and entrepreneurial activities within arts and cultural heritage sectors.

"Often workforce and career development opportunities are focused on the corporate and private sectors," stated a representative from the museum. "At the Kansas City Museum, we want to employ, train, nurture, and connect youth and young adults with viable, stable, high-paying, and rewarding jobs."

Starting in January 2025, for an 18-month period, the museum will work alongside a multidisciplinary team comprising consultants, schools, nonprofit partners, and youth interns. This collaboration will focus on developing a comprehensive plan for the workforce initiative set to launch in 2026.

Further details can be found in an article published in KC Studio magazine's November/December issue.
