Two men from Eastern Jackson County have been indicted by a federal grand jury for their alleged involvement in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy. One of the individuals is also facing charges related to possessing machine gun conversion devices.

Kal J. Nay, aged 21, from Oak Grove, Missouri, and Robert J. Turnage, aged 20, from Blue Springs, Missouri, were named in a five-count indictment returned on October 15, 2024. Nay was taken into custody yesterday and made his initial court appearance today. Turnage remains at large.

The indictment accuses Nay and Turnage of conspiring to distribute fentanyl. They are jointly charged with distributing fentanyl between May 2 and June 11, 2024.

In addition to these charges, Nay faces two counts of distributing fentanyl and one count related to possessing machine guns. The indictment claims that he possessed six machine gun conversion devices on June 18, 2024.

It is important to note that the charges outlined in this indictment are accusations only; they do not constitute evidence of guilt. A federal trial jury will evaluate the evidence presented to determine their guilt or innocence.

Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Jennings is prosecuting this case following an investigation conducted by the Jackson County Drug Task Force.
