A West Plains, Missouri man, who is a registered sex offender, was sentenced in federal court today for possessing hundreds of computer-generated images of child sexual abuse.

Dace Allen Doverspike, 24, received a 10-year federal prison sentence without parole from U.S. District Judge Roseann A. Ketchmark. Additionally, the court imposed 15 years of supervised release following his incarceration.

Doverspike, with a prior federal felony conviction for possessing child pornography, pleaded guilty on August 29, 2023, to possessing an obscene visual representation of the sexual abuse of children.

On May 10, 2023, Doverspike’s probation officer seized his cell phone during a home visit as part of his supervised release conditions. The officer discovered multiple images and videos of pornography on the device, including computer-generated images and videos depicting child pornography. The phone was subsequently transferred to Homeland Security Investigations for further examination. A task force officer found that a microSD storage device inserted into the phone contained 255 computer-generated image files showing child sexual abuse.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller prosecuted this case which was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals resources at all levels to locate and prosecute individuals who exploit children sexually and to identify and rescue victims.
