A Kansas City, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for his role in a conspiracy involving the theft of firearms from vehicles in the Westport entertainment district and other areas within the metropolitan region. The stolen firearms were later sold on social media platforms.

Bobby Lamb, 22, received an 11-year federal prison sentence without parole from U.S. District Judge Greg Kays. Additionally, Lamb was ordered to pay $1,500 in restitution.

On September 29, 2023, Lamb pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to receive, possess, and dispose of stolen firearms. He also admitted guilt to possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime, and possessing a stolen firearm.

Lamb acknowledged his involvement in a conspiracy where vehicles were broken into and firearms along with other items were stolen. The conspirators used social media to advertise and sell these stolen firearms, including sales to individuals legally prohibited from owning them.

Court documents reveal that between June 18 and November 19, 2021, Lamb and his co-conspirators stole over 100 firearms through vehicle break-ins. At the time of his arrest on September 16, 2021, Lamb was found with a stolen Glock 9mm handgun.

Lamb is the first defendant sentenced in this case. Four co-defendants from Kansas City have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing: Drevion Hooker (22) on September 4, 2024; Rayquan Duane Pettaway (25) on August 28, 2024; Treyon Bloodsoe (22) on July 24, 2024; and Roy Rushing (26) on October 2, 2024.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stefan C. Hughes is prosecuting this case which was investigated by the Kansas City Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
