From May 18 to 25, Governor Mike Parson and First Lady Teresa Parson will embark on an international Trade Mission to Italy. Italy is a significant source of foreign direct investment for Missouri and a key trade partner, with exports exceeding $169 million in 2023.

The Trade Mission aligns with Governor Parson’s infrastructure and economic development priorities. The objective is to foster relationships with influential international figures to enhance Missouri's robust trade capacity. To promote Missouri as an ideal location for business investment and expansion, Governor Parson will engage with various government officials, diplomats, and business leaders.

"Given the importance of international trade to our economy, we're excited to again promote Missouri as an ideal business location," stated Governor Parson. "Italy is home to several leading companies that have already invested in our state while growing and creating jobs for Missourians. We look forward to thanking Italian business leaders for their partnerships while demonstrating to others that our state has what it takes to support their success."

The itinerary includes stops in Milan and Rome where the governor will meet with companies that already have a presence in Missouri as well as those who do not, aiming to encourage future investment. In Milan, meetings are scheduled with the U.S. Consul General and the U.S. Commercial Services team. The U.S. Ambassador in Rome will also be met by Governor Parson.

Exports worth $169 million sent to Italy in 2023 underscore the significance of international trade for the state's economic prosperity. Among these exports, leather, machinery, and chemicals were most sought after.

This marks Governor Parson's eighth Trade Mission since assuming office.

During his visit, Governor Parson will meet executives from several leading companies such as PIVA Group, Leonardo DRS, TAB, Buzzi Unicem, Principe Foods, Serioplast, and Reply - all of which maintain existing relationships with Missouri.

Additionally, he will participate in discussions with key Italian business organizations, including the Council of Regions in Rome.

The Hawthorn Foundation, a Missouri nonprofit organization, is funding the Trade Mission. For updates on the trip, follow @GovMikeParson on Facebook and @GovParsonMO on Twitter.
