A Kansas City, Mo., man, Jorge A. Rodriguez-Gonzalez, 42, a citizen of Mexico, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison without parole after law enforcement officers seized 144 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside automobile wheels in his shed. U.S. District Judge Greg Kays delivered the sentence after Rodriguez-Gonzalez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
According to a confidential source, Rodriguez-Gonzalez was involved in the distribution of methamphetamine. A search warrant executed at his residence on Oct. 11, 2019, led to the discovery of an H&R Pardner Pump 20-gauge shotgun and a TGI Knox 7.62x39-caliber AK-style rifle. Furthermore, a set of four Toyota wheels and tires were found in a detached shed, with each tire containing a metal compartment filled with methamphetamine.
"Investigators found a total of 144 pounds of methamphetamine in the four tires," stated the report. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David A. Barnes and investigated by the Independence, Mo., Police Department, the Jackson County Drug Task Force, and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
