Jefferson City — For the month of March 2024, Governor Mike Parson granted eight pardons pursuant to Article IV, Section 7 of the Constitution of the State of Missouri. This news comes as Governor Parson continues to address the backlog of clemency applications in the state.

In addition to the pardons, Governor Parson also denied 33 clemency applications in March. The Governor's Office has been diligently working to reduce the number of pending clemency applications, which currently stand at fewer than 100.

Governor Parson took office facing a significant backlog of clemency applications, with more than 3,500 pending cases inherited. Despite the challenges, the Governor has remained committed to addressing these cases promptly. As stated, "Governor Parson has prioritized providing individuals an answer, whether approved or denied."

The names of the individuals who received pardons have not been disclosed publicly, but official documents have been filed with the appropriate government agencies and sent to the recipients. Governor Parson's actions reflect his dedication to fulfilling his duties under the state constitution.
