KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A tax preparer from Kansas City, Missouri, has admitted to fraudulent activities related to tax preparation. Ebens Louis-Loradin, 44, pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of wire fraud and aiding in the preparation of false tax returns. According to the report, Louis-Loradin filed false federal income tax returns for clients over a six-year period.

Louis-Loradin confessed to submitting incorrect information on his clients' tax returns, which included unauthorized claims for dependents, inflated income tax withholding amounts, and various tax credits and deductions. These actions resulted in reducing his clients' taxable income and increasing their eligibility for tax credits.

The consequences of Louis-Loradin's actions are severe as he faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison for wire fraud and additional prison time for aiding in the preparation of false tax returns. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 1, 2024, where the court will consider various factors before determining the final sentence.

The prosecution of this case is being led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas P. Heberle, with the investigation conducted by IRS-Criminal Investigations. Louis-Loradin's guilty plea sheds light on the importance of integrity and compliance in the tax preparation industry to maintain trust and uphold legal standards.
