Bryan Arellano won a penalty for Sporting KC II in the 81st minute, which Blaine Mabie converted to give his team a late lead. Real Monarchs responded quickly with Lineker Rodrigues Dos Santos scoring his first professional goal to tie the match.

As stoppage time approached, Real Monarchs substituted goalkeeper Max Kerkvliet for Will Mackay. In added time, Anthony Samways scored his first professional goal with a volley from outside the box after a corner kick was not cleared by Real Monarchs’ defense.
