Sporting Kansas City announced on April 29 that its associates and players participated in two volunteer events to support Earth Week and the Major League Soccer Greener Goals Initiative. The activities focused on environmental sustainability and food access in the Kansas City area.
The events were organized to highlight efforts aimed at creating a healthier community while supporting local organizations. Participants included Sporting Kansas City players Cielo Tschantret, Ethan Bartlow, and Jayden Reid, who joined staff members in volunteering.
On April 21, volunteers worked at Pendleton Heights Community Garden as part of the Urban Produce Push initiative. They prepared the garden for planting by cleaning up debris, turning soil, adding compost, planting vegetables, and watering plants. The event was designed to address hunger and nutrition by providing fresh produce to food-insecure neighborhoods.
Later that week on April 23, volunteers assisted at Kanbe’s Markets Warehouse. Tasks included sorting donated produce such as vegetables and meat for distribution to those in need, cleaning crates for efficient food delivery, organizing supplies, and painting warehouse walls. Kanbe’s Markets focuses on transforming food loss into accessible meals while reducing environmental waste.
These activities reflect Sporting Kansas City’s ongoing commitment to community engagement through hands-on service projects related to sustainability and social equity. The club’s involvement demonstrates an effort to strengthen ties within the community while supporting broader initiatives tied to environmental awareness.
