Major League Soccer has announced the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for Matchday 20. Sporting Kansas City players, goalkeeper John Pulskamp and midfielder Manu Garcia, were recognized among the top 20 players following their team’s 2-1 victory over Charlotte FC.
Pulskamp, who has started every match for Sporting Kansas City in 2025, made four crucial saves during the game. One notable save was against Kerwin Vargas in the 87th minute, which set up Sporting’s stoppage-time comeback. Garcia contributed significantly with assists on Mason Toye’s equalizing goal in the 94th minute and Dejan Joveljic’s winning goal in the 96th minute. Garcia led all players in passes and ball actions during the match and now ranks third in MLS for assists this season.
“Credit to John Pulskamp. It goes relatively unnoticed because of the two great goals at the end, but he really kept us in the game,” said Kerry Zavagnin, Sporting KC interim head coach. He added about Garcia, “(Manu) is a special number 10. I think it speaks a lot to his mentality and his courage for fighting through getting hit time and time again. To playmake from that position also shows his versatility.”
Sporting KC will face Real Salt Lake next at Children’s Mercy Park on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT.
