ESPN has released its annual quarterback rankings, and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs has been named the top quarterback for the third consecutive year. This marks the fifth time in six years that Mahomes has achieved this ranking.

Jeremy Fowler, who compiled the rankings, highlighted Mahomes’ performance: “Mahomes still leads the NFL in virtually every passing category — from passing yards to touchdowns and yards per attempt — since becoming the starter in 2018. No quarterback was more efficient on third down than Mahomes last season. He led the NFL in third-down QBR (90.4) with a league-high 53.1% of his passing attempts resulting in first downs.”

Since starting his career as a starter in 2018, Mahomes has accumulated significant achievements both statistically and in postseason success. He leads the league with 32,068 passing yards and 245 passing touchdowns during this period. Additionally, he ranks second for postseason wins by a quarterback with 17 victories.

Mahomes’ leadership has taken the Chiefs to at least the AFC Championship Game each season he has been a starting quarterback. Furthermore, he is one of only five quarterbacks in NFL history to have won three Super Bowl championships.

Creed Humphrey joins Mahomes as another member of the Chiefs to achieve a No. 1 ranking in ESPN’s positional evaluations this year.
