NKC Health announced on Apr. 15 that it has received the Silver Milestone Recognition from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for maintaining its echocardiography accreditation for 25 years. The recognition highlights NKC Health’s ongoing commitment to improving patient outcomes and safety in cardiovascular care.

The achievement underscores the importance of consistent quality in medical imaging, as accredited facilities undergo a thorough reaccreditation process every three years by a panel of medical experts. This process evaluates various factors essential to accurate diagnosis and positive patient outcomes, including sonographer performance, equipment standards, and required quality metrics.

“We are honored to receive this significant achievement for having the echocardiography accreditation for 25 years,” said Steven Starr, MD, FACC, chief medical officer of NKC Health. “The Silver Milestone Recognition from IAC stands as a testament to the dedication of our teams who strive each day to provide the highest standards of cardiovascular care for our community.”

Echocardiography is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease along with other serious cardiovascular conditions. The IAC seal is considered the gold standard in echocardiography accreditation.

In addition to being one of only 83 facilities nationwide to reach this milestone in 2026, NKC Health continues its nearly seven-decade mission—formerly as North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health—to serve patients across its region through comprehensive healthcare services.
