Today, at the Missouri State Capitol, Charles D. Hausman, Adjutant General of the Missouri National Guard, was promoted to Major General. Governor Kehoe remarked on this advancement as a recognition of “Major General Hausman’s remarkable leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our state and nation.” Since taking command in February 2025, General Hausman has led soldiers and airmen through various missions including responses to winter storms and flooding.
Governor Kehoe appointed Major General Hausman as Adjutant General on January 8, 2025. With over 36 years in the Missouri National Guard, his career includes expertise in operational leadership and military strategy. “It is an honor and privilege to be entrusted with this responsibility,” said General Hausman regarding his promotion.
General Hausman’s military journey began in the Army Reserve in 1988 before joining the Missouri National Guard in 1989. He transitioned to Aviation in 1993 and has held numerous command positions from company to brigade level. His international assignments include Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan.
As an experienced aviation officer and combat veteran, he has received several awards such as the Distinguished Service Medal and Legion of Merit with bronze oak leaf cluster. He holds qualifications in various aircraft models including the TH-67 and AH-64D Apache.
General Hausman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology (1991) and a Master of Science degree in Aviation Safety (1993) from the University of Central Missouri. He also completed a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College in 2015.
A native of Saint Joseph, Missouri, he currently resides in Jefferson City with his wife Julie and their two adult children.
