A man from California, Missouri, has been charged by a federal grand jury with possession of a silencer and a machine gun. The indictment alleges that Aubrey Foxworthy, 81, possessed a silencer not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record and an AR-15 conversion device.
Previously, Foxworthy faced charges for selling firearms without a federal firearms license and possessing an unregistered rifle with a barrel length shorter than 16 inches. The new charges are part of a superseding indictment.
The accusations are not evidence of guilt. A federal trial jury will assess the evidence to determine guilt or innocence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron M. Maness is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, along with local law enforcement agencies including the Jefferson City Police Department and Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
This case is associated with Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), aiming to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched a strategy on May 26, 2021, to strengthen PSN based on fostering trust in communities, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
