An Independence, Missouri man faces charges in federal court for possessing over two kilograms of cocaine and illegally possessing firearms. Jacob N. Dodge, 26, was charged on May 27 in the U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Missouri.
The complaint against Dodge includes allegations of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute, and possession of firearms related to drug trafficking crimes. On May 23, investigators attempted to arrest Dodge following a controlled drug evidence purchase. Members of the Kansas City Police Department Tactical Unit used a Vehicle Intervention Tactic (VIT) during a high-risk car stop. Dodge evaded the tactic initially but was eventually apprehended after his vehicle was disabled.
A search of Dodge’s residence and vehicle uncovered significant quantities of drugs including cocaine, marijuana, THC products, psilocybin mushrooms, LSD, cash totaling $78,943 and six firearms.
“The charges contained in this complaint are simply accusations,” noted the press release. “Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury.”
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Jennings is prosecuting the case with investigations conducted by several agencies including the Kansas City Police Department and FBI.
This prosecution is part of the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Co-located Strike Forces Initiative aimed at dismantling major drug trafficking organizations through multi-agency collaboration.
