A Kansas City man has been charged in federal court for offenses related to child sexual exploitation. Mohammad Maher Chamma, 26, faces several charges including production of child pornography, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in illegal sexual activity, transportation of child pornography, and distribution of child pornography.
The criminal complaint, unsealed today, outlines allegations against Chamma dating back to May 2023. According to an affidavit supporting the complaint, law enforcement received multiple CyberTips indicating that Chamma used various online aliases to distribute and transport child sexual exploitation material. Additionally, there are accusations that he transported a minor from Kansas to Missouri for illegal sexual activities.
It is important to note that these charges are accusations and not evidence of guilt. The responsibility lies with a federal trial jury to determine Chamma’s guilt or innocence based on the evidence presented.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Alison Dunning is prosecuting the case which was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Kansas City Police Department.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates resources at federal, state, and local levels to prosecute offenders and rescue victims.
