On July 16, 2025, Staci-Christopher Zjacku Cannon, 26, was charged with multiple counts of bank robbery in a federal indictment unsealed in Kansas City, Missouri. The indictment accuses Cannon of robbing or attempting to rob six banks and credit unions across Kansas City between February 6 and May 15, 2024. The total amount allegedly stolen exceeds $30,000.
Each count of bank robbery or attempted bank robbery carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison without parole. However, the actual sentencing will be determined by the court after considering advisory guidelines and other factors. A sentencing hearing will follow a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
The charges are accusations at this stage and require evidence to be presented to a federal trial jury for determination of guilt or innocence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Q. McCarther is prosecuting the case following investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Kansas City Police Department.
