A photograph has the power to capture raw emotion and preserve fleeting moments. Over the next few days, a series will revisit 10 of the best photos from the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024-25 season, with insights from Chiefs’ Director of Photography Steve Sanders.

The second photo in this series is titled “The Win!” It was taken during Week 10 against Denver by Evan Sanders using a Canon EOS R3 camera. The image shows quarterback Patrick Mahomes celebrating after a victory over the Broncos.

Steve Sanders explained why this photo was included: “I had to include this to follow No. 3,” he said. “After the ‘block off,’ this was the reaction. Patrick was running down the field like a little kid. He was so happy, and the whole team just exploded.”

Evan Sanders, who took the photo, is Steve’s son and has been involved in photography for most of his life. Reflecting on his son’s work, Steve expressed pride: “To see him succeed and follow in my footsteps a little bit means a lot.”

Evan captured this moment from the opposite end zone as Mahomes ran towards him after the play. Steve noted how Evan’s positioning allowed him to capture Mahomes’ joy contrasted with his bruised hand: “I’m sure he has no idea that his hand is bloody… He’s so happy for the team and that they were able to get this win.”
