TAMKO Building Products and the Kansas City Chiefs have announced the return of Operation Rooftop, a roof giveaway sweepstakes for U.S. military veterans and active service members. The program, now in its second year, will provide one current or former military member with a new roof using TAMKO’s Titan XT shingles.

Last year’s recipient was retired Marine Corps veteran Garron Abernathy from Blue Springs, Missouri. He said, “As a Marine Corps veteran, knowing that my home will be safe and secure with this new roof means everything to me and my family.” Abernathy’s experience helped shape the ongoing mission of Operation Rooftop.

The initiative is a partnership between the Kansas City Chiefs and TAMKO Building Products, which has supported American manufacturing and veterans since its founding in 1944. The program aims to honor the commitment of U.S. military personnel by offering reliable home protection.

The winner will receive a roof built with Titan XT shingles, which are recognized for their impact resistance and wind protection up to 160 MPH. These shingles were named 2024 Product of the Year in the Home Protection Category by consumers.

“Together with TAMKO, we’re proud to support those who have served our country and give back in a meaningful, lasting way,” said Kellen Begnoche, Vice President of Partnership Strategy for the Kansas City Chiefs. “It’s an honor to help make a difference in the lives of veterans in our community and continue a tradition that reflects the values we hold as an organization.”

“We’re proud to bring Operation Rooftop back for a second year to recognize the outstanding service of our nation’s heroes,” said Chris Freeborg, Vice President and Chief Marketing & Product Development Officer at TAMKO and himself a U.S. military veteran. “The fact that we’re able to put veterans first means a lot to me. I think about the people I served with—the culture, the camaraderie—and I’m honored to help give back to that community. It’s a privilege.”

TAMKO employs many veterans across its workforce—nearly 15% nationwide—with even more serving in leadership roles. The company also supports veteran-focused nonprofits such as Field of Honor, Veterans Airlift Command, and Patriot PAWS.

Military members interested in entering can visit the Kansas City Chiefs’ Operation Rooftop website for details on how to participate or review eligibility requirements on the official rules page.
