Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has launched the Show-Me America 250 initiative as part of the nationwide effort to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary. The announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the 2025 Missouri State Fair, where Governor Kehoe also issued a proclamation declaring the fair a “Great American Fair.” This event marks Missouri’s official participation in President Donald Trump’s national America 250 campaign.

“The State of Missouri shares a critical piece in the story of America, from the Louisiana Purchase to our pivotal role in westward expansion,” said Governor Kehoe. “As we approach this monumental 250th anniversary, it is a perfect opportunity for us to reflect on our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to the future of our state and nation. We are excited to invite all Missourians to join us in this historic celebration.”

The Show-Me America 250 initiative will feature several activities at the Missouri State Fair, including a drone show with the campaign logo and custom photo cutouts across the fairgrounds for visitors. The statewide celebration will continue through July 4, 2026.

The America 250 Missouri Commission will oversee programming and public engagement related to the commemoration. The initiative focuses on three main areas: supporting civic education and patriotic learning in schools; encouraging community involvement through events such as veteran storytelling and flag programs; and hosting public events commemorating significant milestones like Independence Day and historical battles.

A new website, showme250.mo.gov, has been launched as an information hub for upcoming events, resources, and local participation opportunities regarding Missouri’s America 250 activities.

According to organizers, “The principal purpose of the America 250 Missouri Commission shall be to plan, promote, and implement where appropriate public celebrations and commemorations of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026, and the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.”
