A former member of the Pagan’s Motorcycle Club has admitted guilt in a case involving an assault on a rival club member. Jarrid A. Hammer, also known as “Hammer,” from Blue Springs, Missouri, entered a guilty plea to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury in aid of racketeering. The plea was made before U.S. District Judge Greg Kays.
The incident occurred on July 20, 2023, at a bar and grill in North Kansas City, Missouri. Hammer, along with two other members of the Pagan’s Motorcycle Club, attacked a lone member of a rival gang. According to reports, Hammer declared their intention to shut down the victim’s club before flipping over a table and knocking the victim to the ground. Subsequently, Hammer and his associates proceeded to stomp, kick, and punch the victim who reported that steel-toed boots were used during the assault.
The victim suffered significant injuries including a head contusion, rib fracture, hemothorax, pulmonary contusion, pneumothorax, and traumatic brain injury. Following the attack, Hammer and his accomplices fled before law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Under federal statutes related to this offense, Hammer faces up to 20 years in prison without parole. However, the actual sentence will be determined by the court based on advisory guidelines after completing a presentence investigation conducted by the United States Probation Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Bradley K. Kavanaugh and Robert Smith are prosecuting this case which was investigated by multiple agencies including the FBI and police departments from Independence and Blue Springs in Missouri as well as Homeland Security Investigations.
This prosecution is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations threatening national security through coordinated multi-agency efforts.
