Today, ESPN, Disney+, and Skydance Sports released a new trailer for “The Kingdom,” an upcoming ESPN Original Series. The series will premiere on August 14 on ESPN, ESPN+, and Disney+.

Produced by Words + Pictures with Skydance Sports, NFL Films, 2PM Productions, and Foolish Club Studios, the six-episode docuseries focuses on the Kansas City Chiefs. It examines the team’s significant place in NFL history over more than sixty years while highlighting their remarkable 2024 season. Kristen Lappas of Words + Pictures directs the series.

“The Chiefs’ modern-day dynasty has been one of the most incredible stories in sports over the last several years,” said director Kristen Lappas. She emphasized that embedding with the team provided a unique opportunity to explore both their history and recent achievements.

Kansas City Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt stated: “This series is a tribute to everyone who has helped shape the Kansas City Chiefs over the past six decades — from my father’s vision to the players and coaches who pursue greatness each season.”

All episodes will be available on ESPN+ and Disney+ starting August 14. Episodes 1 & 2 will air on ESPN at 9 pm ET.

The docuseries includes unprecedented access into players’ lives during their record-setting season when they secured a third-consecutive Lamar Hunt Trophy as AFC champions. The series highlights nearly a decade of success where they consistently reached playoffs (2015-24), won division titles (2016-24), appeared in multiple championship games (2018-24), and made five Super Bowl appearances in six years.

The show delves into the Chiefs’ history dating back to its founding by Lamar Hunt in Dallas, Texas. With exclusive interviews and access to rare archives, it provides insight into how this iconic franchise became a modern-day dynasty.
