Dejan Joveljić earns spot in MLS Team of the Matchday after two-goal performance

Dejan Joveljić has been named to the Major League Soccer Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for Week 2 of the 2026 regular season. Joveljić earned this recognition after scoring twice in Sporting Kansas City’s 2-2 draw against Columbus Crew at Children’s Mercy Park on February 28.

Translated: “Joveljić scored the brace that secured the draw at home. Both goals came after good team efforts. Calvin Harris and Jake Davis played a big part in one goal, and Joveljić was able to score from a rebound after a shot attempt by Shapi Suleymanov.”

The forward wore the captain’s armband during the match, joining Manu García and Zorhan Bassong as part of Sporting Kansas City’s group of captains announced earlier this season by head coach Raphael Wicky.
