Children’s Mercy has announced significant leadership changes as two of its senior executives, Robin Foster and Tom Wright, prepare to retire. Foster, the Executive Vice President and General Counsel, will retire on July 1 after a 43-year career that included guiding Children’s Mercy through a period of growth. Tom Wright, the Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, will also retire but remain temporarily to assist with the transition.
Alejandro Quiroga, CEO and President of Children’s Mercy, expressed gratitude for their contributions: “When we first met, both Robin and Tom shared with me their plans to retire this year. We celebrate the legacy they leave behind—a legacy of excellence, compassion, and unwavering commitment to Children’s Mercy.”
To ensure continuity in leadership, MaLiz Denk has been promoted to Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Denk is currently serving as Vice President, Chief Risk Officer, and Deputy General Counsel. Her experience within the organization is expected to facilitate a smooth transition in legal affairs.
Michelle Wimes will step into the role of Interim Chief People Officer following Wright’s departure. Wimes is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer at Children’s Mercy.
In addition to these changes, Children’s Mercy is introducing a new executive position: Chief Transformation Officer (CTO). This role aims to modernize operations by enhancing patient experiences and leveraging technology for innovation. Dave Henriksen has been appointed as Executive Vice President and CTO. Henriksen comes from Notable Health in San Mateo, California.
