Children’s Mercy announced on Mar. 12 that it has raised $150 million to address the pediatric mental health crisis in the Kansas City region.
The funding is part of a five-year effort called the Illuminate initiative, which began in summer 2023. The initiative aims to improve early intervention, expand specialty services, invest in research and innovation, and increase hospital care for children facing mental health challenges.
Since its launch, Children’s Mercy has introduced nearly 14 new programs under the Illuminate plan. More than 5,000 donors contributed to this fundraising effort.
The hospital said these resources will help meet growing needs for pediatric mental health support across the area. According to Becker’s Hospital Review, the full article can be found on their website.
Looking ahead, Children’s Mercy plans to continue expanding its services and research as part of its ongoing commitment to improving mental health care for children.
