Trey Smith will remain with the Kansas City Chiefs after agreeing to a new contract. The deal was reached just before the deadline, preventing Smith from playing under the franchise tag for 2025.

General Manager Brett Veach expressed his satisfaction with the agreement: “I’d like to congratulate Trey on a well-deserved deal. Trey embodies everything we look for in a player – toughness, intelligence, and a relentless work ethic. He’s an elite guard in this league, and we’re excited to have him locked in long-term.” Veach also acknowledged his staff and representatives Jimmy Sexton and Tory Dandy from CAA for their collaboration in finalizing the contract.

Smith, selected as the No. 226 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has become one of the league’s top guards over four seasons. He has started 67 games and played over 1,000 regular-season snaps each year.

Notably, among players with more than 2,500 pass-blocking snaps over five seasons, Smith is one of only five offensive linemen to allow fewer than ten total sacks. ESPN ranked him as the No. 4 interior lineman heading into 2025.

With his new contract secured, Smith will continue his career with Kansas City for several more years.
