The Kansas City Chiefs outlined on April 13 a detailed preview of the leading cornerback prospects ahead of the upcoming 2026 National Football League Draft.

This information is important for fans and teams as they prepare for one of the most anticipated events in professional football, where new talent will be selected to join NFL rosters.

Among the highlighted players is Mansoor Delane from Louisiana State University. Standing at six feet and weighing 187 pounds, Delane was named a First-Team All-SEC selection and a unanimous All-American in 2025. Experts have ranked him as one of the top overall prospects. According to NFL.com, “Delane is one of the most consistent players in this draft class. He makes everything look easy in coverage as a corner who is extremely loose and fluid in his change of direction… Overall, Delane has the tools to match up with every style of receiver.” The Athletic added, “Overall, Delane plays with the route anticipation and temperament to stay attached in coverage and squeeze catch windows.” ESPN described him as someone whose “fluid movement, vision and quickness are a fantastic combination,” while Pro Football Focus said he has “the tools to start in both press and off coverage.”

Jermod McCoy from Tennessee was also featured despite missing all of last season due to an ACL injury. At six-foot-one and 188 pounds, McCoy impressed scouts with his recovery speed during pro day workouts. NFL.com said: “McCoy had an outstanding 2024 season but missed the entire ’25 campaign due to an ACL tear… His ability to elevate and play the ball is impressive…Overall, McCoy has the speed, movement and ball skills to start Day 1.” The Athletic noted that if there are no concerns about his knee he could be an early starter.

Other notable prospects include Chris Johnson from San Diego State—named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year—Avieon Terrell from Clemson who brings versatility after three standout seasons, and Colton Hood from Tennessee recognized for his play speed across multiple programs.

The report offers insights into each player’s strengths based on expert analysis across several sports outlets including NFL.com, The Athletic, ESPN, and Pro Football Focus.

As teams finalize their draft boards ahead of this year’s event, these evaluations may influence decisions on which athletes could become key contributors at cornerback positions throughout professional football.
