Governor Mike Parson has issued an order for U.S. and Missouri flags to be flown at half-staff at all government buildings in Missouri in honor of Sergeant Colin Arslanbas, a United States Marine who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. The flags will be lowered from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, May 4, 2024, as a mark of respect for the fallen hero.

Sergeant Arslanbas, assigned to the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, Alpha Company, was remembered by Governor Parson as a dedicated individual who had earned several commendation medals and had risen to the rank of Sergeant. Governor Parson expressed his gratitude, stating, "We owe a tremendous debt to those who are willing to put their lives on the line to serve our state and country." He also extended his condolences, along with the First Lady, to the family and friends of Sergeant Arslanbas during this challenging time.

A 2019 graduate of Fort Zumwalt West High School, Sergeant Arslanbas had received accolades during his service in the Marine Corps, including the Marine Corps' Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

The proclamation issued by Governor Parson serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by individuals like Sergeant Colin Arslanbas in upholding the values and freedoms of the nation. The gesture of flying flags at half-staff is a symbol of respect and gratitude for his service and dedication.
